The 11th edition of the Maghreb Jazz Days Festival will pay homage to the late Tunisian artist Yasser Jeradi, who passed away on August 12, 2024.
Yasser Jeradi was a renowned Tunisian artist, recognized for his contributions as a musician, calligrapher, and painter. Born on October 3, 1977, in Gabes, his song “Dima Dima” became a powerful anthem during the Tunisian Revolution of 2011.
Organized by the Fondation de la Maison de Tunisie in Paris, the festival will be held from February 7th to 9th, 2025, at the Habib Bourguiba pavilion of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CIUP).
The inaugural concert will feature a special tribute to Yasser Jeradi, bringing together a diverse lineup of Tunisian and Maghreb artists, including Lobna Noomane, Raoudha Abdallah, Abir Nassraoui, Mounir Troudi, Ghasen Fendri, Slim Abida, Ala Ben Feguira, and Elyes Ghourabi.
The festival will showcase a rich tapestry of sounds, exploring the fusion of traditional and contemporary music. The program will feature performances highlighting Saharan sounds, as well as innovative musical collaborations blending percussion, guembri, guitars, and drums.
The closing night will feature a captivating performance of Sufi jazz, accompanied by musicians from the Parisian scene.
The Maghreb Jazz Days Festival is an annual event dedicated to celebrating the diverse musical heritage of the Maghreb region, exploring genres such as Gnawa Jazz, Diwane, Stambeli, and other innovative forms of musical expression. This year’s festival will serve as a poignant tribute to the memory and artistic legacy of Yasser Jeradi.
