Malawi has reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Moroccan Sahara region.
The Rabat-Lilongwe axis is strengthening within a dynamic of intra-African cooperation, particularly through the Royal Initiative, which Malawi supports, aimed at facilitating access for Sahel states to the Atlantic Ocean.
Meeting in Rabat on Thursday, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Malawian counterpart Nancy Tembo expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Malawi at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
The two ministers pledged to further enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the area of food security, where the Kingdom of Morocco will assist Malawi in establishing an ambitious partnership for the development of sustainable agriculture.
At the multilateral level, Bourita and Tembo stressed the importance of intensifying their cooperation to further harmonize their positions within regional, continental and international institutions such as the African Union and the United Nations, according to a joint statement signed at the conclusion of the talks between the two ministers.
Tembo also highlighted that Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera viewed the Royal Initiative as an opportunity for promoting intra-African cooperation.
