The Malian government and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on migration management. During a recent meeting between Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maiga and IOM Deputy Chief of Staff Mohamed Abdiker, the two parties discussed key areas of collaboration, including:
The government and IOM will work together to revise the National Migration Policy to address current challenges and promote safe, orderly, and regular migration. IOM will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Malian migrants in distress, including repatriation and reintegration programs. The two parties will explore ways to harness the potential of the Malian diaspora to contribute to the country’s development.
The meeting highlighted the importance of integrated border management and civil status modernization in effective migration management. Both parties agreed to work closely to address these issues and ensure the protection of vulnerable migrants.
By strengthening cooperation, Mali and IOM aim to create a more humane and sustainable approach to migration, while promoting the rights and well-being of migrants.
