APA-Rabat (Morocco) – The Prime Minister of Morocco has announced the creation of new training centres and the launch of the “Maroc Digital” strategy to train more young people in the digital sector.
Speaking at a plenary session of the Council of the Republic, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch outlined the economic measures taken by his government to support businesses and maintain macroeconomic equilibrium in a global context of crisis.
In response to questions from Parliamentarians, he highlighted the successes achieved by the government through a series of initiatives aimed at revitalising key sectors of the economy. In particular, he highlighted the gradual increase in public investment to strengthen social infrastructures and support citizens, while continuing to pursue the necessary reforms.
He also highlighted emergency measures such as the maintenance of electricity tariffs and financial support for the transport sector, as well as aid programmes in response to the effects of the drought, in accordance with royal directives.
He also mentioned fiscal and customs measures to support basic commodities such as meat, cereals, oils, dairy products and pulses.
On the economic front, Mr. Akhannouch outlined the successes achieved, particularly in the tourism and craft sectors, and the steady economic growth, anticipating future improvements thanks to the implementation of these measures.
On the social front, he highlighted the historic reforms in the health and education sectors, considered to be the foundations of the welfare state. He praised the unions’ commitment to social dialogue and stressed the importance of improving workers’ living conditions.
He also addressed concerns about young people who are NEET (not in employment, training or education), saying that the government takes these issues seriously and has taken steps to address them, notably through education reforms and programmes to reduce school drop-out rates.
