Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch expressed this commitment at the Summit of the Future, held in New York alongside the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
Akhannouch emphasized the importance of placing peace, stability, and development at the forefront of collective action, advocating for a comprehensive and integrated approach based on trust, dialogue, and mutual respect. He stressed the need for renewed multilateral action to address global challenges and achieve inclusive solutions.
Morocco has also been actively working to combat climate change. The country aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45.5 percent by 2030 and increase the share of renewable energy in its national electricity mix to 52 percent by 2030.
Additionally, Morocco has made progress in key areas such as social protection, food sovereignty, and health.
The Compact for the Future, adopted by Member States during the Summit, commits signatories to bridging the digital divide and accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
