The sixth edition of the Saidia Film Festival “Cinema without Borders,” will take place on February 24-26, at the initiative of the Al Amal Association for Cohabitation and Development.
Postponed twice due to circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the latest edition will be held with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Moroccan Film Center (CCM), the prefecture of the province of Berkane and local authorities and the municipality of the city Saidia, the association said in a statement on Thursday.
For the organizers, the festival is likely to contribute to the liveliness of the “Blue Pearl” and to promote national and international film production.
This edition will feature 14 films (7 features and 7 shorts) from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Palestine, France, Spain, North Macedonia and the United States.
The participating films will compete for the awards for best direction, best screenplay, best actor and actress and the jury in addition to the Grand Prize “The Blue Pearl” feature film, and the “Orange Prize” short film.
The program of the festival includes conferences, meetings and workshops on cultural and social issues, including the film industry in the Oriental region, writing in Moroccan and international cinema and film literature.
These meetings will be attended by experts and specialists in the film industry, and will be enhanced by the signing of books on cinema.
With its 14 kilometers of golden sand and its endless sandy beach, combined with a bewitching sunshine, the Moroccan city of Saidia stands out as an essential pearl of the Mediterranean and a point of attraction for many national and foreign summer visitors.
