A statement from the ministry states that the Joint Council meeting which will take place on 19th will be preceded by a Southern African Development Community Economic Partnership Agreement Ministerial preparatory meeting on the 18th February.
“In a bid to fast-track implementation of Economic Partnership Agreement, the inaugural Joint Council, as provided for in the Agreement, is expected to consider and adopt Economic Partnership Agreement implementation institutional issues.
This also include rules procedure for the Joint Council; rules of the Trade and Development Committee, rules of Procedure for the European Union-Southern Africa Development Community Economic Partnership Agreement Dispute Settlement body; and code of conduct for Arbitrators and Mediators.
The statement states that the participation of Kenewendo is critical to advancing the national and the regional position to ensure that the agreement delivers on its intended objectives.
