A horrific head-on crash between a bus and lorry killed 15 people in Rosslyn near Pretoria on Friday, Pretoria Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said.
In addition to the dead, Mabaso said the accident left 37 people injured when the two vehicles collided on Hornsnek Road in Rosslyn, a Pretoria suburb.
“Of the 37 people injured, 26 sustained minor to moderate injuries. Four sustained moderate to serious injuries, while seven people sustained critical injuries,” according to Mabaso.
The injured were taken to hospitals in the Pretoria area, the spokesperson said.
Police investigations were underway to determine the details of the terrific mishap, he added.
Over-speeding has been the main cause of most of the country’s road accidents in the past, Mabaso noted.
