The Israeli press has reported suspicions of sexual harassment, as well as financial and administrative irregularities.
A delegation of senior Israeli Foreign Ministry officials visited Morocco to investigate serious malfunctions in the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.
Allegations of sexual abuse, missing gifts and internal conflicts are at the heart of the controversy.
According to the Times of Israel, a senior official in the Israeli diplomatic mission in Rabat is involved in incidents of sexual abuse against several Moroccan women.
The probe team will also investigate the conduct of the head of the mission, David Govrin, regarding the proper functioning of the office.
In addition, the Israeli inspection delegation will investigate suspected financial and administrative irregularities, including missing gifts.
The investigation concerns “a valuable gift from the Moroccan royal household received during celebrations marking Israel’s independence, and which would have disappeared, without being reported, according to complaints received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” reports i24 news.
The team is also investigating the reasons behind a rift between Govrin and the mission’s security officer.
