The head of the Malian transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Erdoğan who reaffirmed his country’s backing of the fight against terrorism in the West African nation.
“Today, during a telephone exchange, President Erdoğan reaffirmed his unwavering support for Mali in its fight against terrorism,” Colonel Assimi Goïta wrote on his X account.
In addition to security, the two leaders “discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, including health, energy, agriculture, industry, technology, education and trade,” the Malian head of state added.
This conversation comes a day after Malian and Burkinabè forces retaliated in the town of Tinzaouten, where several Malian soldiers and their Russian auxiliaries were killed in an ambush set up by separatist movements in the north of the country.
