First Lady Clar Marie Weah will on Thursday, June 20 launch the “She is You Movement,” a program aimed at making Liberia a safe place where women and children can grow and explore their true potentials.
The Communication Director in the office of the First Lady, Arthur Douglas, disclosed that the movement when officially launched will give women and girls the power to stand up and advocate for the voiceless.
Speaking to reporters in Monrovia Thursday, Douglas said a number of First Ladies have been invited to grace the occasion, adding that they will all be present to share their stories with Liberian women and girls.
Douglas added that, the First Lady’s main concerns are women empowerment and child education, among others, noting that less privileged and elderly people are top priorities on her agenda.
He called on every Liberian to join hands with the First Lady as she strives to promote the goodwill of President George Manneh Weah.
Douglas observed that since Mrs. Weah became First Lady, she has transformed many lives through her initiatives.
He named the construction of public latrines, provision of school materials, and donation of foods to orphanages and the elderly as well as the construction of charity homes, among others, as some of her achievements.
Douglas noted that the First Lady has met with international partners to see how best Liberians can benefit from several programs that will enable them to grow and live freely in society, noting that she is not just playing the role of a First Lady, but serving as a mother of the country.
The First Lady’s director of communication said she believes that Monrovia is not Liberia and that is why she is reaching out to various counties to meet with the people, stressing that she has every citizen at heart.
