Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré, handed over a substantial batch of equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries on Tuesday.
Valued at 13 billion CFA francs, this equipment is intended to bolster the development of hydro-agricultural infrastructure under the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and the Agropastoral Offensive.
The shipment includes 10 wheel loaders, 10 excavators, 10 graders, 33 sheep-foot rollers, 25 bulldozers, 2 backhoe loaders, and 10 additional compactors.
It also features rolling stock such as 2 fuel tankers, 6 water tankers, 2 support trucks, 18 dump trucks, 1 workshop truck, 3 crane trucks, 3 equipment transporters, 5 concrete mixer trucks, and 2 cement mixer trucks.
This equipment was acquired on behalf of the National Office for Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Development (ONBAH) and the National Land Development and Rural Equipment Company (SONATER). These entities are tasked with carrying out development projects to improve water access and expand agricultural land, accelerating production and strengthening food self-sufficiency.
Agriculture Minister Ismaël Sombié expressed gratitude for President Traoré’s commitment, emphasising that the equipment would serve as a critical lever for the success of the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and the 2023-2025 Agropastoral Offensive, particularly by addressing water management challenges.
