APA-Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) These new measures easing anti-Covid restrictions by the authorities are aimed at travelers departing from and arriving at Ivorian airports.
The Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage has decided, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transport, to introduce these new measures, one of which states that “wearing a face mask is no longer compulsory but is still strongly recommended for vulnerable people and those with chronic illnesses.”
Following the lifting, on April 12, 2023, of the state of health emergency and the easing of the control mechanism at Abidjan airport, by the National Security Council, these two ministries have decided to remove mandatory Covid-19 certificates and Covid-19 vaccination cards within the terminal.
According to the measure “no negative test certificate or Covid-19 vaccination certificate is required to leave Cote d’Ivoire. Airlines will be responsible for checking health documents against Covid-19,” in accordance with the
health recommendations of the country of destination.
Upon arrival in Cote d’Ivoire, “no proof of a negative test or Covid-19 vaccination certificate is required” to enter the country, the text stresses, mentioning that all travelers will however be subject to a systematic temperature check.
The health control system for yellow fever remains in place in accordance with the International Health Regulations (IHR 205), says the joint note from the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage and the Ministry of Transport.
The National Security Council, chaired by President Alassane Ouattara, also adopted on April 12, 2023, the integration of Covid-19 activities into routines of the country’s health facilities.
