Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has departed Freetown to attend the 2025 Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Global Forum in Barbados.
This prestigious event will bring together global leaders to focus on accelerating sustainable energy solutions.
At the forum, President Bio is set to deliver an important national statement emphasizing Sierra Leone’s Energy Transition and Green Growth Plan. This plan aims to prioritize a transition towards renewable energy, significantly reducing the country’s reliance on biomass and oil. In his speech, President Bio will underscore Sierra Leone’s commitment to expanding its hydropower and solar energy capabilities, which aligns with the Feed Salone Strategy and the National Development Plan, as well as broader global climate objectives.
Hosted by the Government of Barbados, the SEforALL Global Forum will convene heads of state, policymakers, and industry leaders to foster collective action toward a just and inclusive energy transition. President Bio’s participation highlights Sierra Leone’s emerging leadership role in advancing climate resilience and sustainable energy development on the international stage.
