The 15th African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) convened in Kigali from August 18 to 20, 2026, uniting regional and international tech leaders to advance Africa’s digital infrastructure.
Jointly organized by the African Internet Exchange Point Association and the Rwanda Internet Community and Technology Alliance, the event gathered network operators, data center managers, content providers, and policy experts at the Kigali Marriott Hotel.
Delegates focused on critical strategies to enhance direct network interconnection, lower connectivity costs, and bolster overall network resilience across the continent. By expanding Internet exchange points, submarine cable access, and local content distribution, the forum aims to keep a larger share of African Internet traffic routed locally, driving the continent’s digital economy forward through stronger regional collaboration.
