APA-Johannesburg (South Africa) South African comedian Trevor Noah has earned an Emmy Award for his TV talk programme, The Daily Show, which appears on cable television in the United States, APA learnt on Tuesday.
Noah was nominated for the Emmy awards five times before this sixth nomination in his final season hosting The Daily Show which secured him the honour on Monday.
The Daily Show won an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Talk Series category.
Although he left the show in 2022, with his final episode airing on 8 December of that year, Noah was still honoured at the 2023 Emmy Awards, which were delayed due to Hollywood strikes.
He becomes the first African to win an Emmy for outstanding talk series since the introduction of the award category in 2015.
