APA- Conakry (Guinea) – A traffic accident has claimed the lives of three members of the motorcade of the High Commander of the Gendarmerie in Guinea.

The three gendarmes were victims of a traffic accident on April 21, 2023, on the National Road 1.
Their team was part of the security detail that had gone to assist the presidential guard in Labé, in the Central Guinea region, where the head of the military junta Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya was celebrating Eid El-Fitr 2023.
The accident occured in the early evening of April 21, at around 7:00 p.m., in the sub-prefecture of Souguéta, prefecture of Kindia as they were leaving for Conakry after their mission.
Of the eight gendarmes of the Mobile Gendarmerie Intervention Squadron NO I of Sonfonia, two died on the spot.
The third victim succumbed to his wounds in Conakry on Monday, April 24.
Five others are being treated in Conakry for injuries.
The pick-up truck was badly damaged, the high command of the gendarmerie said in a statement seen by APA.
The three victims were buried on Tuesday, April 25, after a funeral organised by the hierarchy of the national gendarmerie in the presence of Prime Minister Bernard Goumou.
The rural commune of Souguéta is prone to road accidents.
On November 6, 2022, an accident killed 22 people, including three women, and injured eight others.
