Forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar, in coordination with the coast guard, have intercepted 93 Egyptian and Sudanese migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 48 kilometers northwest of Tobruk.
This operation underscores growing cooperation between the Libyan armed forces and the coast guard in their efforts to combat illegal immigration.
The interception was carried out by a diving unit affiliated with Haftar’s forces. The migrants were subsequently transferred to the naval base in Tobruk and then handed over to the appropriate authorities.
According to the Tobruk Medical Center, several Sudanese migrants sustained injuries during the perilous crossing due to extreme travel conditions and received emergency treatment upon arrival. A health assessment was conducted in coordination with the Department for Combating Illegal Immigration.
Local authorities stated that this operation is part of a broader initiative to combat irregular migration and ensure the protection of human lives at sea.
