Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu hosted Shairose Mawji, the newly appointed United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Liberia, for a high-level bilateral meeting in Monrovia on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
The discussions centered on enhancing international development cooperation, strengthening multilateral frameworks, and expanding collaborative initiatives to improve youth and child welfare programs across the West African nation.
During the engagement, Ambassador Yin reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to multilateralism and global development initiatives, highlighting China’s readiness to establish tripartite partnerships with UNICEF to execute targeted development projects in Liberia. In response, Representative Mawji commended China’s continued contributions to child protection and South-South cooperation frameworks, expressing UNICEF’s intent to work closely with Chinese diplomatic authorities to ensure the effective implementation of shared community development and health programs.
