The 3rd Advisory Assembly of the National Education Council (CNE), which opened on Wednesday in Porto-Novo, focuses on promoting scientific, technological and vocational training as drivers of Benin’s transformation by 2060.
Held from August 5 to 7, 2026, at the Golden Tulip Hotel, this meeting brings together CNE members, government representatives, academics, institutions, technical and financial partners and civil society actors to discuss the future of the Beninese education system.
In his address, the CNE’s Executive Secretary, Clément Chabi, emphasised the importance of investing in youth, research and human capital development to ensure sustainable progress.
He stated that mastery of scientific and technological knowledge is now a determining factor in national competitiveness.
The President of the National Education Council, Noël Ahonangnon Gbaguidi, reiterated the institution’s strategic mission: to guide educational policies, monitor their implementation, and propose recommendations to improve the quality of education.
This consultative assembly, composed of 69 members from the public and private sectors, is also tasked with reviewing the activities of the National Education Council and formulating new guidelines to strengthen the national education system.
Over the three days of meetings, the participants will assess the implementation of previous recommendations and consider ways to reposition Beninese education to support the “Benin 2060” vision. Scientific, technological and vocational training programmes are presented as key drivers for supporting the country’s industrialization, innovation and digital transformation.
