The Beninese government has initiated a nationwide operational assessment to support the rollout of new territorial development hubs across all 12 departments.
Formally launched on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by Minister of Decentralisation and Local Governance Janvier Yahouédéou, the tour focuses on inspecting regional infrastructure and identifying logistical needs required to establish the administrative bodies.
The government delegation began its field evaluations in Parakou, conducting technical inspections of the former prefecture and the administrative complex that houses the regional prefecture and departmental directorates. The field assessment will proceed through key regional centers including Kandi, Natitingou, Djougou, and Dassa-Zoumè to establish logistical readiness ahead of deploying general delegates and their support teams.
By conducting these pre-deployment surveys, the ministry aims to ensure seamless integration between the incoming development hubs and established local administrative structures. The structural reform represents a key component of Benin’s broader strategy to enhance regional governance, optimize public service delivery, and promote balanced economic growth across all departments.
