Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye hosted his Cape Verdean counterpart, Jose Maria Neves, on an official visit to Dakar on Wednesday.
The two leaders held a private meeting at the Presidential Palace, where they expressed a shared desire to boost cooperative relations between Dakar and Praia, according to a statement released by the Senegalese Presidency on its X account.
Discussions focused on several strategic areas, including regional integration, maritime security, the energy transition, and citizen mobility in West Africa. Both presidents emphasized the importance of a strengthened partnership between their two island and coastal nations, which share common challenges in sustainable development and governance.
This high-level visit signals a dynamic redefinition of Senegal’s diplomatic priorities under President Diomaye Faye, who advocates for more effective and inclusive South-South cooperation.
