The World Health Organization (WHO) has bolstered the Republic of Congo’s healthcare infrastructure with a donation of medical equipment valued at over 45 million CFA francs.
Delivered to the Ministry of Health and Population, the consignment is specifically designed to enhance emergency response capabilities, with a primary focus on treating patients suffering from respiratory distress.
The official handover took place between the WHO representative, Vincent Dossou Sodjinou, and the Minister of Health and Population, Jean-Rosaire Ibara. This contribution marks a key milestone in the 2025–2028 cooperation agreement between the WHO and the Congolese government. The specialized kit includes oxygen concentrators, portable ventilators, nebulizers, manual resuscitators, and advanced medical monitoring devices.
National health authorities emphasized that the equipment will be deployed to improve the quality and continuity of care, particularly in vulnerable regions where medical needs are most acute. Minister Ibara noted that the donation is essential for strengthening the operational capacity of hospitals, while Mr. Sodjinou highlighted that these tools will empower medical teams to manage critical respiratory cases more effectively and save lives.
This initiative is closely aligned with the National Health Development Plan (PNDS 2022–2026). It reflects a long-term commitment by both the WHO and the government to build a more resilient health system that ensures equitable access to high-quality emergency services for all citizens across the country.
