The ECOWAS Commission President, General Birame Diop, has received Kalilou Traore, Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador to Nigeria and Permanent Representative to the regional organisation during his first official visit since assuming office.
General Birame Diop received Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Kalilou Traore, for a courtesy visit following his assumption of leadership at the regional institution.
According to ECOWAS, the two officials discussed matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of regional integration.
Discussions focused notably on the importance of maintaining close cooperation and regular consultations between the ECOWAS Commission and member states to promote peace, stability, economic integration, and sustainable development in West Africa.
The meeting was attended by the Commission President’s Chief of Staff, Sylvain Sambou; the Director of External Relations, Jerome Boa; and the Director of Communication, Joel Ahofodji; as well as members of the Ivorian ambassador’s delegation.
Furthermore, ECOWAS maintains its goal of launching the “Eco” currency in 2027 and calls for accelerating efforts to meet the necessary conditions for establishing the single West African currency.
