The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has launched an automated platform dedicated to its Community Development Programme (CDP) to strengthen coordination, investment planning, and the monitoring of regional projects, while facilitating citizen access to information regarding their implementation.
The platform was officially launched in Abuja, Nigeria, from October 5 to 9, 2026, by the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, Anthony O. Ogunjimi, in the presence of representatives from the regional organisation’s directorates, institutions and specialized agencies.
This initiative aims to improve the management of the community project portfolio by facilitating investment programming, the coordination of interventions and the monitoring of development initiative implementation across member states.
Through this digital tool, the Commission also intends to enhance the visibility of ECOWAS – supported projects and improve the flow of information regarding actions undertaken at the regional level.
Access to data on these projects is intended to enable citizens to gain a better understanding of the initiatives being implemented and their objectives.
The establishment of this platform is part of an effort to modernise regional development management mechanisms, at a time when investment coordination and results monitoring are key issues for economic and social integration in West Africa.
By centralizing information on CDP projects, this tool could contribute to better alignment of interventions across various ECOWAS bodies and more coherent programming of community investments.
However, the Commission did not specify – in the information released, the platform’s detailed functionalities, the terms of public access, or the indicators selected to measure its results.
