Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty has reaffirmed Egypt’s support for state sovereignty, illustrating the strategic rapprochement between Egypt and Morocco on major regional issues.
Speaking during his visit to Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This reaffirmation of Egypt’s support for sovereignty and territorial integrity, within a bilateral framework, reinforces the signals of alignment between Morocco and Egypt on issues of principle in regional and international forums.
According to statement by MAP, this was stated by the Egyptian Foreign Minister following his meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita and that this position is part of the Joint Communiqué signed on May 10, 2022, during an official visit by the former Egyptian foreign minister to Morocco.
The document establishes a convergence of views on the fundamental principles guiding the foreign policy of the two countries.
Mr. Abdel Aaty reiterated that Egypt’s foreign policy is based on three pillars: respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and support for the economic development of its people.
The meeting between the two ministers is part of a dynamic of strengthened bilateral cooperation, particularly in the context of regional and multilateral challenges in North Africa and the Middle East.
The Egyptian minister’s statement comes as diplomatic coordination between Rabat and Cairo is intensifying on several regional issues, particularly those related to stability, energy security and migration flows.
