Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi has called for greater private-sector involvement in airport management, alongside expanding capacity and improving services for travelers.
President Al-Sissi’s directive to strengthen the private sector’s role in airport operations was discussed during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny, according to a presidential statement.
Discussions focused in particular on the project for a fourth terminal at Cairo International Airport. The planned facility is expected to have a capacity of approximately 40 million passengers per year,
according to the minister.
The presidency aims to attract more foreign investment in civil aviation, particularly through investment zones surrounding airport hubs. It also requires that new facilities incorporate sustainability and operational efficiency standards.
Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi emphasised the need for prompt resolution of complaints regarding service quality.
These guidelines complement the modernisation program underway at several airports, with the stated goal of improving their regional and international competitiveness and strengthening the country’s logistical role.
