Morocco’s national futsal team won the Africa Cup of Nations after beating Angola 5-2 in the final, played on Wednesday evening in the indoor arena of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions of futsal clinched the fourth continental title in their history.
Unbeaten throughout the 2026 futsal AFCON, the Moroccan players were crowned African champions after their win over Angola on Wednesday, October 21, in the final of the continental tournament in Rabat.
Morocco’s goals were scored by Othmane Idrissi (17th minute), Youssef Jouad (19th), Driss Raiss El Fenni (21st), Ismael Amazal (33rd) and Bilal Bakkali (35th), while Angola’s goals came from João Josemar Cambangula (18th) and Anderson Fortes (37th). Morocco international Youssef Jouad was named player of the match.
It is Morocco’s fourth continental title in the competition, a record in Africa.
The Moroccan side had an outstanding tournament, reaching the final without conceding a single goal. They scored 23 goals in the group stage, beating Algeria 4-0 in their opening match, then Zambia 7-0 and Libya 6-0. In the semi-final, Hicham Dguig’s side beat Egypt, three-time African champions, 6-0 on Monday. Angola won their semi-final against Algeria 3-2.
The Atlas Lions thus win a fourth continental crown, following their titles in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
In the third-place play-off at the tournament, hosted in Morocco from October 12 to 21, Egypt took third place by beating Algeria 8-1 on Wednesday.
The final was attended by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe, Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) President Fouzi Lekjaa and Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, Mohamed Medhi Bensaid.
Following the victory, King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the national team members and, through them, to all the technical and administrative staff of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, for this renewed achievement.
