President Mamadi Doumbia’s trip to Saudi Arabia for the first Saudi-African summit has been beneficial for his country.
On the sidelines of this high-level meeting, held in Riyadh on Friday November 10, the Guinean military leader secured financing worth 150 million euros for development projects in Guinea.
This economic success was achieved through the intermediary of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Moussa Cissé. The Guinean authorities signed a financing agreement with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for the finalisation of a $54 million project to support the development of the health sector.
A $40 million financing agreement was also signed with the Islamic Development Bank for a rural drinking water supply and sanitation project earmarked for Middle and Upper Guinea.
Conakry also obtained a $75 million loan from the Saudi Development Fund for the construction of a “Mother and Child” hospital in the Coyah prefecture.
As he stepped off the plane, the Guinean head of state was cheered by local residents massed all along the Fidel Castro Ruz highway to Kaloum, where the presidential palace is located.
Colonel Doumbouya took power on September 5, 2021 following a coup which toppled Alpha Condé.
