Sri Lankan technology leaders and diplomatic envoys convened in Nairobi on September 23 to expand bilateral trade, investment, and cross-border digital partnerships with Murang’a County leadership.
Hosted by Sri Lanka’s Acting High Commissioner to Kenya, Ruvini De Silva, alongside a delegation from the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM), the high-level meeting brought together public and private sector representatives to explore joint ventures in information and communications technology (ICT), software engineering, and business process outsourcing (BPO).
During the engagement, Murang’a County Governor Francis Irungu Kang’ata presented the county’s master investment strategy, outlining targeted initiatives to digitize public service delivery and build a tech-driven municipal economy. Encouraging direct capital deployment from Sri Lankan tech firms, Governor Kang’ata highlighted incentives for foreign partners to establish regional operations in Murang’a. In response, SLASSCOM executives showcased Sri Lanka’s technical capabilities in enterprise software architecture, IT-enabled services, and workforce development. Diplomats also used the forum to promote Sri Lanka Expo 2027, positioning the upcoming trade exposition as a key platform for sustained economic diplomacy and commercial exchanges between South Asian and East African markets.
