The 2nd East African Community (EAC) Regional Conference on Education officially commenced on August 25, 2026, bringing together regional stakeholders, educators, and policy experts at the Safari Park Hotel.
Convened by the EAC Secretariat and hosted by Kenya’s Ministry of Education, the four-day event centers on the theme “Transforming Education in East Africa,” emphasizing the shift from policy commitments to actionable impact for resilient, future-ready learning systems.
The opening day featured a series of targeted pre-conference workshops aimed at addressing core challenges in regional education. Delegates focused on strategies to fortify foundational learning, integrate artificial intelligence and digital technologies into classrooms, and upgrade professional development standards for teachers. Additionally, sessions explored the modernization of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems to better match the evolving demands of Africa’s economies and the career ambitions of its youth.
Serving as a collaborative forum, the gathering allows EAC Partner States to exchange empirical evidence, best practices, and actionable framework solutions to foster inclusive and equitable education across the bloc. The conference is set to conclude on Friday, August 28, following a High-Level Ministerial Session that will evaluate regional achievements and progress made since the previous summit in 2024.
