Residents of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa have been reeling from loud explosions across the city, APA can report on Thursday.
According to several sources the blasts were heard overnight and seemed close to the military headquarters in the west of the city while another happened in the south.
Witnesses spoke of the Gotera neighbourhood of Addis Ababa being affected by the explosions which took place around 21:30 GMT.
Addis Ababa officials recently banned drone flights for security reasons following days of conflict in the north of the country where federal forces have been battling fighters of the newly-formed rebel alliance which included armed militias in Tigray and Amhara.
Intelligence sources in Addis Ababa said rebel fighters may have been behind the blasts.
No casualties or extent of any damage were reported.
The government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmad has not commented.
