On August 13, 2025, Touba will mark the 130th edition of the Grand Magal, with the special presence of the
Malian Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Mahamadou Kone, strengthening religious ties between Mali and Senegal.
The Grand Magal will be held on Wednesday, August in the holy city located in the Diourbel region of Senegal to commemorate the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke, founder of Mouridism, one of the most influential brotherhoods in the country.
This year, the event will be marked by the special participation of the Malian minister Kone who is personally invited by the General Caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacke.
The Malian official will take part in the celebrations, thus highlighting the strength of religious and cultural
ties between Mali and Senegal.
