The 39th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II tennis tournament is set to commence on March 30th, 2025, at the Royal Tennis Club of Marrakech, promising a week of thrilling matches and significant local participation.
Preparations are in their final stages for the prestigious event, which will run until April 6th. During a press briefing on March 21st, Aziz Tinfouti, President of the RTC Marrakech, highlighted the improved facilities, particularly in technical aspects and refereeing, aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful tournament.
In a move to bolster national talent, Tournament Director Hicham Arazi has awarded all wild card entries to Moroccan players. This initiative is designed to provide valuable experience and preparation for the Moroccan team ahead of the Davis Cup in September.
While local players will have a strong presence, the tournament will also feature notable international stars. Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti (16th ATP), the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor (43rd ATP), and Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena (53rd ATP) are among the top-ranked players set to compete. However, defending champion Matteo Berrettini of Italy will be absent this year, organizers confirmed.
With a substantial prize fund of €596,035, the Grand Prix Hassan II is poised to be one of the most competitive tennis events on the African continent. Organizers are anticipating a large turnout of tennis enthusiasts in the coming days.
