The second edition of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Business Forum opened in Marrakech on Thursday, December 11, under the theme: “Together for the Efficient Implementation of the AfCFTA.”
This two-day event continues Morocco’s proactive initiatives to accelerate the implementation of the Free Trade Area both nationally and regionally.
Organized by the Moroccan State Secretariat for Foreign Trade in partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat and several major Moroccan business entities (ASMEX, CGEM, and ARM), the Forum demonstrates the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening mechanisms that promote free trade and sustainable economic integration across the continent.
The forum is designed to establish a structured dialogue around the strategic role of the free trade area as a driver of Africa’s economic transformation. It aims to mobilize all African nations to accelerate the agreement’s implementation by stimulating intra-African trade, promoting exports. attracting investment. The ultimate goal is to foster a resilient and globally competitive African economy.
The event features plenary sessions, thematic panels, and B2B meetings, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and representatives of African continental organizations.
The AfCFTA, a flagship initiative of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, aims to create a single continental market for goods and services, encompassing 54 African states with a combined GDP of over $3.4 trillion. The Forum seeks to advance this strategic project, which is considered essential for the continent’s economic development.
