Madiha Khayr, appointed on October 16 as minister delegate for Vocational Training and Skills Development, was relieved of her ministerial duties two days later at the request of Morocco’s head of government.
King Mohammed VI approved a request by Prime Minister Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri to terminate Madiha Khayr’s appointment, according to a statement issued by the Royal Cabinet on Sunday.
The king received a request from the head of government to remove Khayr from her position as minister delegate to the minister of National Education, Pre-school Education, Vocational Training and Skills Development, with responsibility for Vocational Training and Skills Development, the statement said.
The king “has graciously granted approval for this request, in accordance with the provisions of Article 47 of the Constitution,” the Royal Cabinet statement added.
Khayr, an MP from the Istiqlal Party elected in the Beni Mellal constituency, was appointed on October 8 as head of the Istiqlal parliamentary group in the House of Representatives formed following the September 23 legislative elections.
