King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, called on Moroccan troops to equip themselves with wisdom, vigilance, and advanced knowledge to adapt to global changes and increasing challenges.
He was speaking on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
“The accelerating transformations the world is witnessing, the growing challenges of the current context, and the unprecedented disruptions regionally and globally, as well as cross-border security and criminal threats, require our Royal Armed Forces to remain ever-ready with insight, firmness, and professionalism,” the King stated in an address to officers and enlisted personnel.
He stressed the importance of continually updating military training and education, noting that special attention has been paid to scientific and theoretical instruction in military institutes and training centers.
While highlighting Morocco’s progress in modernising military equipment and technology, King Mohammed VI emphasised the central role of human capital in national defense.
“Our priority has always been to qualify our personnel and provide them with excellent and comfortable working conditions,” he said, citing the development of infrastructure supporting military life, including sports and educational facilities within barracks and training centers.
Expressing pride in the preparedness and dedication of Moroccan forces, the King praised their humanitarian and disaster relief efforts, underscoring their efficiency and planning in executing his directives. These include rescue operations, medical aid, and assistance to civilians during natural disasters.
The monarch also commended the FAR’s active participation in UN peacekeeping missions, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic, where Moroccan contingents have earned international respect for their professionalism and technical expertise.
In terms of future priorities, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to developing a domestic defense industry, calling it a strategic national project. He noted the establishment of a legal framework and incentives aimed at attracting national and international investors to boost military industrialisation and achieve defensive sovereignty.
Through these reforms and ongoing modernisation, Morocco aims to maintain its role as a reliable global partner in peacekeeping and international security.
