Morocco’s annual inflation rate remained stable at 0.4% in June 2025, according to new data released by the High Commission for Planning (HCP). This steady rate was primarily influenced by rising food prices.
The consumer price index (CPI) registered a slight overall increase of 0.4%. This modest rise was predominantly fueled by the food sector, which saw an overall increase of 0.8% compared to May. In contrast, non-food products experienced a minor increase of 0.1% during the same period.
Several key food categories recorded noticeable price surges between May and June. Meat prices saw a significant 4.0% jump, while fish and seafood increased by 3.9%. Other categories experiencing price rises included coffee, tea, and cocoa (1.8%), fruit (1.3%), and dairy products, cheese, and eggs (0.2%).
Conversely, some food product prices decreased. Oils and fats declined by 1.6%, vegetables by 0.6%, and bread and cereals by 0.4%.
Within the non-food sector, the most notable increase was in fuel prices, which rose by 0.3%. However, transportation costs experienced a sharp fall of 3.4%, while prices within the restaurant and hotel category saw a substantial increase of 3.8%.
