Nigeria’s U-20 Girls team on Saturday defeated their Senegalese counterparts 2-1 in the second leg between the two teams in the African qualification for this year’s global tournament,
The Falconets’ first goal at the Annexe Stade Abdoulaye Wade in Senegal came in the 19th minute, when Ifeanyi headed the ball into the Senegalese net from off a corner kick.
The Nigerian team doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Precious Oscar scored from a corner kick delivered by defender Tumininu Adeshina.
The Senegalese, however, pulled a goal back through Sokhna N.T. Pene in the 76th minute to bring the score line to 2-1.
The Nigerian team had earlier defeated their Senegalese counterparts 1-0 in the first leg played in Nigeria to bring the score line to a 3-1 aggregate win.
With this victory, Nigeria,, the two-time FIFA World Cup silver medalists, will take on Malawi’s Under-20 girls in the final round of the series in May.
According to local media reports, Malawi edged out Guinea-Bissau in their fixture. Africa is expected to present four teams at the final tournament scheduled for Poland in September.
