Saglev Electromobility Company Limited says it has made progress in green industrialisation, local manufacturing, and innovation in Nigeria’s automotive sector ahead of official visits from the Federal Government and the African Development Bank.
The electric vehicle manufacturer said in a statement that its EV assembly and manufacturing facility located in Imota in Lagos state would host two high-level visits this week from the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, and the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
Saglev described the visits as validation of its growing role in Nigeria’s clean energy future and Africa’s wider e-mobility transformation.
According to the statement, the Minister is scheduled to tour the facility on July 30, while Dr. Adesina would visit on Thursday, July 31, to assess the progress Saglev has made in advancing sustainable industrial development and climate-resilient transport infrastructure in the region.
The Chief Executive Officer of Saglev, Dr. Sam Faleye, hailed the visits, stating that “These visits by national and continental leaders validate our commitment to Nigeria’s industrial future and Africa’s clean transportation revolution.
“We welcome the Minister, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina as they witness firsthand the progress being made.”
The statement noted that Saglev is Nigeria’s pioneer indigenous EV assembler and manufacturer and currently produces 16 electric vehicle models, ranging from ride-hailing cars and status sedans to mid-sized delivery vans, BRT buses and utility trucks.
The company stated that it plays a leading role in promoting local content, technology transfer, creating jobs, and import substitution within the green mobility ecosystem.
Saglev said the visits demonstrate continued high-level support for industrial transformation, adding that the collaboration with the Nigerian Government and the AfDB highlights confidence in the capacity of Nigerian firms to lead Africa’s energy transition.
“Our facility showcases what is possible when innovation, policy support and regional development financing come together to solve big challenges like climate change, unemployment and logistics efficiency,” the statement added.
