Morocco will host the 2026 ITTF African Table Tennis Championships from October 18 to 25.
The competition will bring together players from around 30 countries and offer qualifying spots
for the final stages of the 2027 World Championships in Astana, the African Table Tennis Federation announced on its website.
Anas Ziati, President of the Royal Moroccan Table Tennis Federation (FRMTT), described the hosting of this competition as “a great honour” for Morocco, highlighting its role in bringing African nations closer together through sport.
“Morocco is proud of its African identity and delighted to host this major event,” he stated, noting the desire to strengthen cooperation among national federations and foster the exchange of expertise to develop the sport across the continent.
Tangiers will also welcome coaches, officials, and delegations from various African countries. Participants will compete for continental titles across several events, with their sights set on the ITTF World Championships, scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from May 22 to 30, 2027.
Anas Ziati emphasised that the organisers are committed to ensuring excellent hosting and competitive conditions for all delegations.
He also invited participants to discover the cultural heritage and hospitality of Tangier.
This edition marks Morocco’s return as a host nation, ten years after the African Championships were held in Agadir in 2016.
