Robert Mugabe Jr, the son of Zimbabwe’s late former President, appeared in a Harare magistrates court on Thursday facing drug possession charges as police widened a probe into an alleged syndicate reportedly linked to him.
The 33-year-old was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly driving the wrong way down a one-way street.
He was found with sachets of cannabis in the car.
Five other individuals were later arrested in connection with the case, with authorities claiming they recovered 25 sachets of marijuana and six ecstasy pills.
The syndicate allegedly includes Mitchel Jackson, Simbarashe Kaseke, Wellington Ncube, Phillip Munetsi Chiyangwa and Tanaka Kashamba.
Police say investigations into the alleged syndicate are ongoing.
