The Algerian government reviewed the progress of several priority energy projects, including cooperation initiatives with Chad and Niger.
Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, chaired a meeting in Algiers on Tuesday dedicated to monitoring his department’s strategic projects, the ministry announced in a statement.
The discussions focused on cooperation and partnership projects with Chad and Niger, although the specific nature of the projects examined, their cost, and their implementation timelines were not disclosed.
The meeting also addressed gas transportation and the national energy consumption model. The ministry presents this model as a tool for guiding public policies on planning and rationalizing energy consumption.
Ministry officials and senior managers from the state-owned energy company Sonelgaz reviewed the progress made, the challenges encountered, and the measures being considered to meet the established deadlines.
Mr. Adjal called for more rigorous monitoring of priority projects and an acceleration of their implementation. He also emphasised the need for stricter efficiency standards in monitoring and evaluation.
