Burkina Faso has manufactured and delivered nearly 300 domestically produced armored vehicles to its Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) since November 2025.
Speaking at an event honoring winners of the Hakili Mousso women’s science competition, President Ibrahim Traoré highlighted the achievement as a major milestone in building a self-reliant national defense sector tailored to countering regional security threats.
The manufacturing initiative, led by local defense firm “Faso Armored” alongside several other specialized Burkinabè enterprises, developed the vehicles following rigorous technical testing to address specific operational challenges, particularly resistance to improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rough terrain. President Traoré emphasized that tailoring military hardware through local scientific research forms a cornerstone of the country’s broader sovereignty strategy while combating armed jihadist groups across the national territory.
