Emerging from a cainet meeting the Burkinabe government has adopted a draft decree renewing the Patriotic Support Fund (PSF) for 2026 in the fourth year of its creation.
Initially established by the decree of January 23, 2023, this mechanism for financing the fight against terrorism will be operational for another one-year, starting from January 1, 2026.
According to the transitional authorities, this renewal is justified by the need for “endogenous, robust, and predictable” funding to support national defense efforts.
After three years of implementation, the PSF has established itself as the central lever for civic engagement, illustrating the Burkinabe people’s willingness to contribute directly to the reconquest of the territory.
Recent figures demonstrate the fund’s increasing effectiveness. As of September 30, 2025, voluntary contributions and levies had raised over 142 billion CFA francs.
This momentum accelerated particularly during the third quarter of 2025, with more than 40 billion CFA francs collected in just three months.
The government emphasises that the results recorded in previous years confirm the effectiveness of the National Solidarity Fund (FSP).
The collected resources are primarily intended to support Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), equip forces deployed in the field, and strengthen the army’s operational capabilities.
The adoption of this new decree thus ensures the continuity of the war effort as the country intensifies its operations to restore territorial integrity.
