The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has highlighted swimming, street skateboarding, athletics, road cycling, and breaking among the standout disciplines set to anchor the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
Scheduled to take place across Senegal from October 31 to November 13, 2026, the event marks the first Olympic sporting competition ever hosted on the African continent. The five showcased sports represent key fan highlights among the 25 total disciplines on the official YOG programme, with events staged across primary clusters in Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly.
The sporting calendar opens at Dakar’s Tour de l’Œuf Complex, where swimming competitions featuring individual strokes and relays will run from November 1 to 6. The same venue will host street skateboarding from November 4 to 5 at a newly constructed Olympic skatepark, evaluating competitors on trick difficulty, execution, and technical creativity. Track and field events are scheduled for November 8 to 10 at the Iba Mar Diop Complex, alongside road cycling races held along Dakar’s coastal Corniche Ouest to test athlete endurance and tactical strategy. Breaking will close out the feature disciplines on November 12 and 13 at the Tour de l’Œuf Complex, where dancers will compete in head-to-head battles incorporating power moves and acrobatic routines prior to the official closing of the Games.
