The ECOWAS Representative Office in Sierra Leone on January 21, 2026, held a consultative meeting with the Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat (TSCS) at the ECOWAS Representative Office in Freetown.
The meeting, chaired by the ECOWAS Resident Representative, H.E. Ambassador John Azumah, focused on progress made in the implementation of the 80 recommendations of the Tripartite Report of June 2024, which underpins Sierra Leone’s National Unity Agreement.
The Tripartite Secretariat provided a detailed briefing on nationwide consultations, stakeholder engagements, public sensitisation activities and institutional reforms linked to electoral governance.
The discussions highlighted ongoing dialogue on electoral system reforms, including consultations on proportional representation, first-past-the-post, and hybrid models, as well as management and functional reviews conducted for key election-related institutions.
The Secretariat also outlined its implementation tracking mechanism and efforts to promote inclusivity, transparency and public confidence in the reform process.
