Morocco delivered an urgent call for structural reform within the League of Arab States on Monday during the 166th ordinary session of its Ministerial Council.
Leading the delegation, Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Ait Ouali, emphasized the need to shift collective Arab strategy away from passive crisis management toward decisive resolution. Rabat advocated for modernized decision-making processes alongside enhanced mechanisms for early warning, mediation, and conflict anticipation to enable the regional body to address emerging geopolitical threats proactively.
The Moroccan delegation urged member states to abandon outdated tensions and adopt unified, forward-looking strategies capable of addressing fast-evolving regional and global realities. Beyond structural reform discussions, the ministerial agenda encompassed critical political, economic, and legal matters, including the ongoing Palestinian question, responses to regional security threats, and the election of leadership across several permanent committees. The proceedings were preceded by high-level consultative talks and a dedicated ministerial committee meeting addressing Israeli policies in occupied Al-Quds.
