Botswana marked a significant step toward gender inclusivity in aviation on Wednesday night as Air Botswana promoted two female pilots to the rank of captain.
Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Keoagile Atamelang joined Air Botswana in a ceremony to award the captain stripes to Tshepiso Tsayang and Changu Tapela, recognising the achievement as a breakthrough for women in the aviation sector.
Atamelang noted that the milestone reflected what is possible when ambition meets opportunity and commended Air Botswana for investing not just in talent, but also in transformation.
Air Botswana chief executive Lulu Rasebotsa underscored the airline’s dedication to fostering an environment where women can thrive in leadership roles, particularly in historically male-dominated fields.
She described the event as a celebration of women’s leadership and courage in aviation.
