Foggy weather conditions have disrupted several domestic flights in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Airlines announced Thursday.
The majority of the airports across the country are witnessing foggy weather conditions, affecting both arrival and departure flights which were temporarily grounded.
“Several domestic flights have been disrupted since August 19 due to the current foggy and unfavourable flying conditions in Ethiopia,” the airlines said in a statement.
The airline further stated that similar adverse weather conditions at certain stations Thursday will also disrupt domestic flights.
It said that regular flights would resume as soon as the weather improves, and the airline apologised to its customers for the inconvenience it might have caused.
“As always, the safety of our passengers is our priority,” it says. “We sincerely apologize to passengers “for the inconveniences they have encountered.”
Ethiopia is currently in its main rainy season called Kiremt, which runs from June to mid-September.
